Rapid-Fire is Goomba Stomp’s weekly Playstation news column, wrapping up all of the Sony stories that you need to know about. This week, the webby world of Spider-Man grows larger, multiple new release dates were announced, a beloved JRPG has been pushed back and much more.

Spider-Man‘s Open World to be “Several Times Larger” than Sunset Overdrive

Insomniac are pushing every boundary with their upcoming Spider-Man title to make it the greatest endeavor they’ve ever taken.

Spider-Man-InsomniacIn response to a Twitter fan question asking about the game world’s size in comparison to CD Projekt Red’s epic, The Witcher 3, the developer noted that wasn’t “a comparison we can really make,” but that it is “several times larger than Sunset City,” the setting of Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive.

According to this, Spider-Man will be the biggest game Insomniac has ever developed. This would make sense, as Peter Parker’s web-based means of travel would allow him to travel around any world map quickly and efficiently. A fairly substantial amount of area would need to be built in order for the game to not feel incredibly small and unfulfilling.

Spider-Man is set for a 2018 PS4 release.

SunderedGran Turismo Sport Release Dates Revealed

Sundered, the latest creation from developer Thunder Lotus Games, officially has a release date. The minds behind Jotun will release the title on July 28 for PlayStation 4 and PC, according to an announcement by the studio on Playstation Blog.

The blog post included a new trailer for Sundered showcasing the game’s hand-drawn art style. As a wandered named Eshe, players must survive in a procedurally generated world featuring hordes of enemies as they search for relics from the past.

The long-running racing series Gran Turismo will also be releasing a new entry in the near future. Gran Turismo Sport is racing onto PlayStation 4’s everywhere on October 17 in North America and October 18 in Europe and Australia.

Kazunori Yamauchi, founder of Polyphony Digital, also delivered the news via a PlayStation Blog post. The game, originally scheduled to launch in November 2016, was delayed to a Fall 2017 window before receiving its latest date.

Gran Turismo Sport is available for pre-order now, with three purchase options: the Standard Edition full game, Gran Turismo Sport Limited Edition and Gran Turismo Sport Digital Deluxe Edition.

Ni No Kuni Delayed, Now Coming in 2018

Those watching for the release of the sequel to the beloved Ni No Kuni  will have to wait a little longer. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom has officially been delayed until January 19, 2018.

Developer Level-5 announced the news about the titles’ new release window, pushed back from the previously announced November 10 date. The RPG is set to come to PlayStation 4 and PC.

Level-5 CEO and Ni no Kuni II director Akihiro Hino spoke to the delay in a video message, explaining the reasons for the delay.

“We have decided that more development time is required in order to deliver the full Ni no Kuni II experience to our fans,” Hino explained. “I deeply apologize to those who have been looking forward to the game’s release.”
